The official authority creates a special industrial zone "Dobroslavtsi", in which projects will be implemented only in the automotive industry. The zone will cover an area of 2,900 decares or "29 football fields" and will be 15 kilometers north of Sofia. The curious thing is that it will be managed by a separate state company, which will be different from the existing National Company "Industrial Zones" and will be its subsidiary.
Projects from 1.5 to 3 billion euro
"We are talking about projects that range from 1.5 billion EUR to 3 billion euros, which will change the face of the Bulgarian economy. They will create thousands of jobs," said the Acting Minister of Innovation and Growth, Alexander Pulev.
The zone will be on the site of the former military airport in Dobroslavtsi. The minister added that quality infrastructure will be built there, as there will also be green areas, bike lanes, and charging stations for electric cars.
The automotive sector was chosen because it contributes to the creation of 13% of GDP. From the words of Alexander Pulev, it became clear that the government is working on two more similar thematic industrial zones, which will be located in Northern and Southern Bulgaria. However, the field in which they will specialize was not revealed.
